Actor and Creator
Stefania Spampinato was born in Catania, Sicily, and grew up in Belpasso, a small town at the base of Mount Etna. She discovered her passion for dance at the age of six, and with her mother’s support, pursued the arts. After graduating high school with honors, she moved to Milan, where she earned a BA in performing arts. This led to a successful career in dance and theater spanning over a decade, taking her around the world and allowing her to collaborate with artists such as Joaquin Cortez, Kylie Minogue, and Leona Lewis, as well as work on The Voice UK and X Factor US & UK.
In 2011, Stefania moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Since 2017, she has portrayed Dr. Carina DeLuca on the hit ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off Station 19. She also appeared in Ford v Ferrari, starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, and played the leading female role in the 2019 Italian comedy Il Giorno più Bello del Mondo.
In 2022, she made her directorial debut with Zita Sempri at the Taormina Film Festival and directed the highly praised Station 19 episode Trouble Man. Stefania’s journey from Sicily to Hollywood is a testament to her immense talent, dedication, and passion for storytelling, as she continues to make her mark in both acting and directing.
